It’s easy to romanticize Valentine’s Day, especially if you’re single. Everywhere you turn you are bombarded with reminders of your current relationship status… or lack thereof. Cards in every store, bright pink and red balloons, roses, cupcakes, candy hearts, chocolate… ALL OF THE C’s.

You’re thinking that it’s cute and sweet, but it’s just an entire day dedicated to reminding you that you don’t have anyone to spend it with. Right?

Wrong. You are so wrong, on so many levels.

It's a day about celebrating love. So if you are without a significant other on Valentine's Day this year, I challenge you to celebrate being single – I challenge you to love yourself more.

Call up your best girlfriends, volunteer at your favorite organization, take yourself on a date, curl up on the couch and watch a movie, attend a fitness class, buy yourself ALL OF THE C’s because you deserve it. Do anything and everything that sets your soul on fire.

Believe me – I love love. I am a relationship kind of girl. But I’ve made the mistake of losing myself and my value to those relationships. I am constantly learning and re-learning that the single most important relationship we will ever have is with ourselves.

Because before we can give any part of ourselves to another, we must first fill ourselves with love. Find it within yourself and the rest of the pieces will fall into place. I promise you that the moment you decide to love yourself first is the very moment your life will begin to change.

Because when you love yourself that fiercely, others will know exactly how it should be done.

So here's to showering yourself with love on this Valentine's Day; here's to self-love being the best love.

1 Corinthians 16:14 - Let all that you do be done in love.
