A Letter to my Favorite People
I heard through the grapevine that it was #nationalsiblingday, so obviously I have to brag on the two most important people in my life. Bradley Kurtis – you are the epitome of the protective big brother. Growing up, you frustrated the hell out of me. But watching you become a father has given me so much perspective. What I thought back then was just you being an annoying big brother, I realize now how much you truly cared – how all you wanted to do was protect me and keep me safe. And not just physically, but my heart, too. You’ve shown me what it means to be a man of God. What a loving husband looks like and how a supportive partner should treat his equal. I watch the relationship that you and Ashley cultivate on a daily basis with complete awe. Thank you for being the role model I never knew I needed. And for blessing me with the greatest gift I could ever receive – being Caroline’s auntie. Molly Christine – you leave me speechless. Being your big sister has truly been the world’s greatest adventure. When we were younger, all I wanted to do was protect you from the world. I couldn’t stand the thought of the world hardening your innocent, precious heart. But I realized that I’m not that powerful... but more importantly, that I didn’t need to. You have blossomed into the most beautiful young woman. You radiate light from the inside-out and you are wise beyond your years. Often times I find myself seeking your guidance, but instead of giving me worldly advice, you point me in the direction of God. You have shown me what it means to love another fearlessly and wholeheartedly and to seek the things that fuel your soul. Thank you for being my biggest fan. And for sticking by my side when giving up on me would have been the easier. Without the both of you, our family wouldn’t be whole. And my life wouldn't be complete. Thank you for bringing sense and purpose to my life. I am so grateful for you.
